CPSC, UWATEC Announces Recall of Smart Dive Computers as of 7-17-03!

The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission with voluntary cooperation of UWATEC announced the recall of its Smart Dive Computers The Smart Dive Computers alert signal system may not work properly and cause the computer screen to freeze In turn this could cause inaccurate information to be displayed, such as water depth, ascent rate, or tank pressure, risking the safety of a diver There has been two reports of the dive computers failing but no injuries have been reported

The recalled units are the UWATEC Smart PRO and the Smart COM dive computers The Smart PRO is offered as a console and as a wrist unit The Smart COM only comes in a console model The names of each unit appear on the computer case, along with the name "UWATEC."

Consumers should stop using these wrist diving computers immediately and contact UWATEC for free replacement
