Why can't I burn CD's with RealOne?

Ever since I installed Norton SystemWorks 2003, I have been unable to burn CD's on my RealOne Player. When I go to RealOne Player>Tools>Preferences>CD Burning, it states that I have no recordable drives available, even though my CD-RW is my E: drive and always has been. Also, it will not allow me to enter "E" in the space for default recordable drive. Real Networks suggested uninstalling my player and reinstalling it, but that did not resolve the issue. Any ideas?

Was there an issue with your PC which prompted you to install Norton SystemWorks to start with? Was there a previous issue concerning your CD-RW drive? Possibility the registry monitor in SystemWorks does not care for the liberties RealOne software takes with your machine Turn off any utilities and options within SystemWorks which run in the background.

Next, do you have any other software installed for burning CD's, in addition to RealOne? CD burning software is notorious for crashing into other CD burning software The most recommended CD Burning software I currently know of is Nero However, best bet is to go with the CD Burning software that came with your CD-RW drive, if any.

RealOne may have to be uninstalled, then your choice of CD Burning software reinstalled.

Next, do you really need RealOne? The latest versions of the RealOne suite have been pretty problematic for a lot of users RealOne monitors your daily comings and goings on the internet extensively for purposes of marketing This is referred to as "Spyware."

Issues concerning susceptability to viruses when using RealOne have also been shown, plus the spyware, advertising and marketing functions with RealOne branch through many areas within your machine If you really just need RealOne for viewing Real media over the net, suggestion may be to install an older version of the product Such a version can be found at a website called oldversions.com This is your choice
