NSFW - Not Safe For Work

It’s time for another Data Doctors Tech Tip

The Internet is bursting with abbreviations and acronyms and not knowing what they mean can sometimes cause you major embarrassment.

This Internet lingo started back when text messaging was charged by the character, but now its just part of the vernacular.

If you’re on the Internet at work, here’s one you absolutely want to know N S F W.

Whenever you see this abbreviation next to a link in an e-mail, on a video or on any social media post, what they are telling you is it’s NOT SAFE FOR WORK!

Clicking the link could bring up any number of items that could get you in big trouble in a work environment, so don’t do it!

Another tip for minimizing your embarrassment at work, is make sure your speakers are always turned really low just in case you land on one of those irritating websites that auto plays some obnoxious video or music.

OK, YOU are now Safe For Work
