Duck Duck Go!

It’s time for another Data Doctors Tech Tip

In the wake of the Edward Snowden security leaks, many of you are thinking about your online privacy a lot more.

If you’re looking for an anonymous way to search the Internet, lots of people are touting DuckDuckGo.com

This relatively obscure secure engine is getting a lot of attention because it promises that it doesn’t do what most search engines do: track anything.

It doesn’t save search history, dates or times, info about your computer or any other type of tracking data that’s commonly collected by virtually every website that you visit.

DuckDuckGo certainly does excel on the privacy front, but it’s not as powerful as Google, so don’t expect to get the same customized results you may be used to.

If you’re curious about the differences, do your own tests using the same search phrases so you know what you’re giving up in exchange for the privacy.
