Social Media as a Search Engine

The incredible growth of social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter have created powerful networks for communication, but there is an even bigger benefit to all those random conversations: SEARCH!

Whether you 'Tweet' or not, you can make use of the billions of dispatches posted every month to learn more about a product or service that you are interested in purchasing.

Unlike static review websites that can contain old information and give you no ability to interact with those that have an opinion, searching via social media can get you in front of active conversations about what is important to you.

Exploring the Open Source Software World

In computer programming, the 'source code' is somewhat like the DNA of the program in that all of the instructions and the ability to change what the program can do is contained in the source code.

Traditional commercial software does not allow users access to the source code, so that users can only get updates from the original source.

Open Source software is software that allows anyone to access the source code, therefore, giving anyone with the technical know-how the ability to make changes.

There are a host of free open-source alternatives to many popular commercial programs that could save you big bucks.

Listen in as the Data Doctors take you on a field trip into the awesome world of open source software!

It's Tech Recycle time again!

Throughout the year, Data Doctors in conjunction with its partners at the Az Technology Council & Westech Recyclers does its best to create awareness in the importance of properly disposing of old technology.

Anything with an electronic circuit board contains toxic materials and should not be thrown in the trash or it will end up in our landfills and in our ground water.

Many of you are retiring your old technology as a result of the holiday season, so now is the time to do something with the old tech.

The sooner older technology gets in the hands of needy charities, the more likely it will be useful & if it isn't of any use, then we'll help you dispose of it properly.

Listen in as we give you everything you need to know to responsibly dispose of your old technology (without exposing yourself to identity theft)!

But if you really need your Computer Corner fix, you can always go back in our archives and choose any of our hundreds of audio replays dating back to Dec of 2002!

We'll be back next week with our bi-annual Technology Recycle event and get back to answering all your technology questions!
