How Do I Stop My Printer from Spewing JUNK!?!?

This question was answered on August 22, 2007. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

We have all been on the wrong end of a printing job gone bad...nothing but a couple of lines of gobbly gook You turn off the printer to stop it, but as soon as you turn it back on, it just continues to spew! The reason that this happens is Windows sends print jobs through what is called a "print queue", which stores the print job until it is completely sent to the printer When your printer starts spitting out this junk, it is being fed by the print queue and until you clear the queue, the junk will spew The next time this happens to you, give this a try: 1 Turn off the printer 2 Double-click the printer icon in the Systray (bottom left corner of your screen next to the clock) 3 Delete any print jobs that are shown in the Printer Window 4 Don't turn the printer back on until everything inside the window is gone!

If all else fails, go through the same steps, but restart the system at the end and don't turn the printer back on until it has finished booting up.
