Why would I have black lines on my screen during games?

I have Black lines while i play games on my XP may'be it was the screen but when i changed it, it was the same.plz help

This may not be an XP problem necessarily as oppose to a video card or even monitor problem The first question is if you are using an LCD monitor was it hit or dropped because damage to your monitor can cause permanent lines that will show up on any screen whether it's games or other applications That is the most likely cause, this could also be an issue with your video card overheating or having issues as well
