When I boot up and when the cd-rom info is accessed in config.sys and autoexec.bat, I get the error message: "Device driver not found 'MSCD000' "

Where/how do I get this device driver. The cd had been in for years and worked fine untill just now.

Help... Please,

Steve Montalto (Apache Jct. Az)

The literal explanation of the error message is that during the load of the driver for your CD-ROM, your physical drive was not accessible This could be a result of many things The drive may be defective or your CD-ROM driver statement in the Config.sys file has been removed or changed If you have an older CD drive you will need these "DOS or Real Mode drivers" If you have a newer CD drive (last year or so) Windows should be able to see the drive without the DOS drivers (via Plug and Play) If you have the driver disk that came with the CD-ROM drive, try re-installing the drivers If this does not re-activate the drive, it may be time for a new one (This assumes that you have not been inside the system in the recent past If you have, check the data and power cables that are plugged into the back of the drive Follow the data cable back to the controller or motherboard to make sure you have a good connection at both ends)
