The hardware hook up is simple enough All you need is a cassette player and a sound card You plug the headphones port of the player into the line in port on your sound card; not the mic in port, that will ruin the quality To plug a player into a sound card, you need a Mini-to-Mini wire A Mini-audio connector is that same as the connector on headphones, you just need one at both ends You can get one from RadioShack for $5 Now for the software; you need a program that is able to record input from the line in on your sound card There is only one program I know of that can do that: MusicMatch Jukebox; but you need to buy the Plus Package for $20 (if you can find one for free let me know) From there it's as simple as hitting record on the computer, play on the cassette, and letting the tape run You then save the input on your computer You can use an editing studio program like Sound Forge or Cool Edit Pro to improve the quality of the sound.
