How can I log on to Windows NT/2000/XP when I forgot my password?

I have a laptop, that I have owned for over 2 years, setup a password on this W2K system after logging into it. Now I don't remember what I set the password to and I can't login to my lpatop. Is there a way to recover this password. I attempted to login to my laptop using the administrator account and no password works even a blank password won't work. Any suggestions?

There is no way to recall a password without a Forgotten Password Diskette However, there is a way to override your password with a new one There are a couple of utilities you can download from the Net The first is Offline NT Password & Registry which will override your SAM file that contains your passwords with a new one The address is as follows: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

The second utility is the Emergency Boot CD which does pretty much the same thing as the first.

The address is as follows: http://ebcd.pcministry.com/ Both of these utilites work with NT, 2000, and XP Once you have log in to your computer, I would suggest creating a Forgotten Password Diskette, which can be done using Windows Use help and search for Forgotten Password Disk or Password Reset Disk and Windows should guide you to the wizard One more thing, please don't use these password override utilities on someone else's computer as it is against the law Thank you.
